Is there a problem of entering about 100 keywords in the META tag?

<META content="HERE THERE ARE MANY WORDS" name=keywords>

Is it going to do any harm to my site If I put about 100 keywords or more?
Thank you,

Many search engines give no weight to the meta keywords, and for those that do, they'll stop paying attention after a certain number of characters. The surplus words won't do you any good, and will only slow down the page loads for your visitors.

Rather than try to squash that much into one page, create some additional pages and keep them each tightly focused on a small number of words or phrases.

If your pages have content related to hundreds of keywords, I might suggest that your page is too large and vague and might benefit from being sectioned into several pages relevant to individual key phrases.

I understand limiting the landing page to just a few relevant keywords. My site sells commodity products and each landing page is pretty specific. My homepage, however, has links to the many different products we sell and therefore has many keywords represented. Do I try to generalize as many specific keywords as possible in order to shorten the list or just use the most popular ones?

yanov - Take a look at this thread...

Meta keywords and page copy

While it's pretty generally accepted now that meta keywords aren't going to help you rank... the thrust of your question, that you want to include a lot of keywords on one page, suggests you're missing the main point, which is about page focus and how the page elements work with each other. You shouldn't be thinking about targeting 100 keywords on a page... you should be thinking about targeting three or four or five.
