h1 tag, how to best use it?

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if it is a bad idea to have extra attributes in the h1 tag? I have a few different styles for my headings, so I use something like <h1 class="class_name">key word</h1>.

Is this method going to depreciate the value of the key words in Google's view; in other words, should I just use pure <h1> tags arround my key word, or is what I am doing ok?

Should make no difference to the search engines at all - certainly haven't seen a difference myself, and I have both.
