Javascript Error?

Trying to determine source of javascript error

Can someone take a look at this page/site and let me know if they get a javascript error please?

I don't see it in Nestscape or IE, but the client says they are getting one and then their browser closes.

I checked it in IE 5.5 (SP2), Netscape Navigator 4.74 and Opera 6.01 on NT4 and saw no problem.

Also the NS JavaScript window saw no errors either.... so, it seems that they are using an old browser version or something else is going on at their end....

Are they on a Mac? IE4 is very buggy on the Mac....

No problems in IE6 or Netscape 6.2 in Win98.

No Javascript errors on any of my browsers either. You're going to need the user to tell you their browser and OS. I'll bet it's pretty old and your using some js that wasn't supported.

Thanks to all. You guys are great! I have dteremeined that their browser must be super old. Told them its time to update.

Jatar_k, I noticed that broken image too in Netscape. Any idea what might be causing it though? I can't figure it out.

The client told me this:

"I am using ie6.0.2600. It is caused by jscript 5.5. Here is the link to the
knowledgebase.

I am perplexed as to why her version of IE 6 is having this problem? Can anyone help me to understand this?

This seems to be a Microsoft problem as opposed to a problem with your script.

this would work

slash goes the wrong way

It seems that IE6 has some problems with its JScript 5.5 dll. It's hard to fully decipher whats going on from the little information that they give... but perhaps there is some problem with JavaScript to JScript in the IE 6 dll's.

As for a workaround to the problem... it gets complex. You could use detect for IE6 and use VB Script to do what you want - but that gets very messy.

I'd put an alert up for all people using IE6 and tell them to get a properly functioning browser!

I came across this site [liquidwd.freeserve.co.uk ] and it can open a command window on your
PC (works on my NT4 box and reports that it works on Win2k and XP as
well).

This is a little freaky, I have to say - uses JScript. I was reading something being able to execute system calls through JScript during the week - I'll try to dig it up and post the link here.

Hi,

I just ran into the same thing on one of the Intranet's that I design and support for my day job company. I had one user complain that I.E. was giving him a JS error. I checked the page with NN 4.X, I.E. 5.5. and also I.E. 6. It turns out he had version 6.0.2600.0000 xpclient.010817-1148. It was correct though. I had removed a call in the head to an external JS popup script. I had cleaned all hyperlinks but one for the onclick ref.. Blew my mind that NN 4.X did not scream.
