Help with clientside javascript errors

I am a network adminstrator at a small resort, and one of our real estate agents has been complaining she cannot view the local MLS. I went into her computer and realized that no javascript will run in IE. Up to this point, I have really taken JS for granted. I cannot even run windows update because one of the first things the page does is run a script. I have, however managed to install firefox (in a roundabout way, the download button the firefox page is JS). Firefox runs JS fine on the computer. I've tried to uninstall IE (version 6, on XP Pro SP2), and combed though all the options in IE and found nothing related to JS. I turned everyting enabled just to make sure it wasn't a security issue.
I am not sure if this is the right forum for me to be asking this question, but does anyone on here have any advice they could impart on me?
Thanks,
Pat

In IE, you want to go to:

Tools > Internet Options > Security tab > Custom Level...

Near the end of the list is a section "Scripting". Change "Active scripting" to Enable. This should fix the problem in IE.
