mp3 not playing locally

I have an mp3 file which is ajaxed-in and plays automatically.

I'm testing locally. The file address is not the full url route, just filename, which is correct in circumstances.

Code for the mp3 is straight from Elizabeth Castro's updated Examples page.

On Windows, it's OK in Firefox, but not in IE9 and not inChrome. On a mac, OK in Firefox and Safari, but not Chrome.

Can someone explain why? Is it same reason for all browsers?
Any overrides possible ?

A lot of links, especially media links using players/viewers designed for web play, will not function when viewing locally in some browsers. That can be expected and it has always been that way. For some it can be by design.

If you want to test locally, install a server on your computer. If using Linux you will find it quite easy if you enable Apache and install Webmin. On Windows you can enable IIS or install a PWS (older versions).

Then you visit your content at [localhost...]
