HI all,

I'm new to both jquery and ajax.

I have been reading up on jquery & ajax. I also found and am studying the offical jquery website specifically the jquery & ajax sections. However, i'm a little confused.

As an example, there appears to be many versions of autocomplete. I.E.

1. [dyve.net...]
2. [pengoworks.com...]
3. [bassistance.de...]
4. there are about 12 more standalone plugins from various sources...
4. A few in the offical jquery.com website plugins area.
5. One in the jqueryui.com as part of a selectable collection download themes.

I'm confused as to which one of the standalone plugins i can use other than picking one with the highest version number. However, it looks like the one that's included in the jquery ui themed download gives you a complete package for use in a variety of a situations.

My gut feeling is that jquery ui is the way to go.

What do you all think?

I just realized that adding links is not allowed. While the links are only to autocomplete plugin sites they are links none the less.

Sorry.

Can the moderator or i be allowed to remove or reformat the links to accepted forum standards?

I would start with the one in jquery ui, I don't know if it better/worse than others, probably much the same, a single library for hopefully all the ui components you need, will save a lot of bother.

thanks,

How i have to spend a lot of time looking at and figuring out why people program...
1. the parameters of a function like jquery's autocomplete in so many different ways while accomplishing the same results.
2. javascript with and without . and/or -> notation.
