I just finished an incredibly complete, thorough, well organized, and free HTML tutorial [mcli.dist.maricopa.edu] that was published by the maricopa community college. Now that I've got the basics im looking for some css and javascript tutorials. Can anyone recomend some good(and free) tutorials?
A couple of my favorites have to do with Douglas Crockford, who is head architect of javascript for Yahoo. Serious about learning javascript? Check out crockford.com [crockford.com] In his javascript section, at the bottom left there are links to some good video tutorials of his on Yahoo. Or just go here and view all the videos. [video.yahoo.com] There's a couple hours worth of absolutely excellent stuff there which is essential for gaining an understanding of proper use of javascript. Some stuff may be somewhat difficult to grasp if you have not buckled down yet and tackled javascript from an object-oriented fashion, which was the case for me the first time I watched them. But after learning some of it I decided to tackle javascript from an OOP perspective more, played around with it, then watched the videos again, and it has greatly improved my understanding of it as well as the quality of programs I have been writing since then. So watch them all, play with OOP in javascript, then watch the videos again would be my advice, as well as reading everything on his site. And be sure to take to heart everything on his page Code Conventions for the JavaScript Programming Language [javascript.crockford.com]
