Lookup fields using JavaScript

Can any one advise a free JavaScript tool for creating convenient lookup fields? It should work pretty much like a usual selectbox but all items must be ordered by groups and only the group names should be visible before they are clicked.

You can build what you describe using a Mootools Accordion [docs.mootools.net].

(demo [demos.mootools.net])

Put the right CSS on it and an Accordion can be made to look a lot like a selectbox
