Personalized Google Layout Boxes

what is that called?

I'm looking to create a page using something similar to what Google is using for their "personalized" homepage where you can drag and drop the windows to rearange the layout.

But I don't know what you call that, is it a widget? modal window? javascript window?

Can someone point me in the right direction?
