large select lists

list jumps back to top when item is removed

I have a long select list (~150 items), so to help users in choosing options from it, whenever they click on an item in the select list, it is transferred to another select list, and removed from the first.

However, if the user has scrolled down a ways in the select list and clicks on an item, the list resets itself to the top.

Is there any way I can make the list stop scrolling back to the top when an option is removed?

How about making the option above or below the one being removed the active selection?
