How to see the code of a web page

I am relatively new at HTML and very new at JavaScript, trying to soak it all in as fast as I can (as it is more fun than I ever knew!). I have been told that if I want to see the source code of a web page I just click "View" on the toolbar and then "Source" on the dropdown list. But it never works. Am I missing a step? Or is this just something people tell greenies like me (I've never been on a snipe hunt, but it was a near thing).

I knew something that was more fun once, but I had to give it up. It's not allowed anyway.

What you describe should work. If not there's something wrong. There are alternative methods though:

1. Right-click the webpage, choose:

View Source

2. add

view-source:

to the left of whatever's in the address bar, then hit return.

If you're using IE, you might need to clear out your temporary internet files. If you haven't done this recently, it could be keep the source from being displayed.

Deleting the Temporary Internet Files did the trick. I would have sat here clicking in futility for ages if I hadn't asked. I sure appreciate the quick responses and alternate resources. Thanks very much!
