Javascript w/ Opera

Opera the only one, should i care?

I just downloaded Opera for the first time, to make sure my site (in profile) works for all browsers. I certainly like the speed of Opera, but I saw that my javascript is bunched up in the middle of the screen and useless under Opera 7.0! My html and css both validate, so not sure what the problem is...

deltakits, i have the same problem with a site coded using Dreamweaver/Fireworks with a javascript dropdown menu. All the menus drop down off to the right of the page in Opera 6 but in IE and Netscape they are perfect. I have a text only nav bar at the bottom of every page so the site is not totally inaccessible to Opera users but the drop downs look terrible! My site validates for HTML and CSS as well ;).

I've decided not to use javascript drop downs any more as they fill the top of the page up with script and they are usually the problem when fixing strange issues with server side includes or PHP scripts. Since I started hanging around these forums I now agree with many others on here that content is king and the bells and whistles don't count for much.

Hi deltakits,

As far as I know, Opera 7 is still in beta for windows. Dont rely on it yet. I would get Opera 6.05 [opera.com] wich is the latest stable version.

We've gotten around javascript filling the page by using external javascript.

Thanks for the tip! I removed 7.0 and installed 6.05, works fine! So, hopefully, they'll fix that bug before 7.0 is completely released.
