I have some navigation containing drop down menus using show/hide layers and I have iframes in the page below. On IE6 it works perfectly and drops down over the iframes showing everything, but IE5 does not. Is there anyway to remedy this?

No, I don't think so. I'm not sure of the correct term for this. Iframes - and other things like select lists - are 'windowed' elements that cannot be overlapped except in the most modern browsers. I don't think there's anything you can do that doesn't involve hiding the iframes temporarily.
