I just misspelled a domain name in my browser. I was taken to a parked domain page hosted by a big domain reseller.

The page had a scrolling title. Un-frekkin-believable.

Not only did the title scroll, the status bar did as well. There was also another scroller in the main body area...

My head kept wanting to follow it to the left.

Hey, are you sure you don't have one of those "helpful" spyware products that resets your DNS error page to some affiliate PPC type web page?

I have a couple public-access win98 machines that get hit with that about once a week, then every someone types www.aol,com into the browser it will say "this domain coming soon, use this search" or something similar.

Anyhow, just another possibility, easy way to check is to do a whois on the mispell and then type something like www.dfggkgkdfhgkdkghtkgjkjhr.com and see if that has a scrolling title as well.

Not only is the very idea of a scrolling title offensive, the way that " - Microsoft Internet Explorer" flickers left and right is so off-putting that I could never stay at any page that uses a scrolling title. The moment I see it I'll click away.

Why oh why can't people understand that if it moves, blinks or flickers they'll lose a shipload of visitors?
