Framing a website (with permission)

How to frame a certain portion...

I am redesigning a local hockey teams website. I have permission from the league to frame their site, but I only want to frame a certain portion (I want to eliminate the banner at the top of their site and I want to eliminate the navigation on the left of the page.)

They use the identical link structure throughout their entire site. How do I do this?

Sorry, but what you describe cannot be done. Either the league site must offer a version at a different URL without the header and banner, or you must "scrape" their page using a script to strip out those tags.

One of my clients has an arrangement something like this with another site. What we do for them is serve up a frameset - the content they allow to be framed is in one frame and the header, navigation are in different frames.

In this way, the content portion is in its own frame and that docuemt ncan be framed by another site.

So, it the site you want to frame will oblige in this fashion, it can work out. But it takes a lot of work from the framing partner.
