Hi everyone, I am new here and need a little advise on adding video to my website. I am not linking them to a specific site. I have them on cd that I have downloaded to my computer. I am using FrontPage and I go to insert picture...video..then from file. When it adds a small icon to the site, it never opens up. Please help. I have read a few articles, but all I can find is direct linking to the video. I don't know that I can do that since the files are on my computer. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Kat

Hi Kat, welcome to webmasterworld

You need to copy the video file to your web server, then do a search for <embed> this will tell you how to embed your video into your page.

Thanks Too_Much,

How would I copy it to my server? Would I FTP it like I have the other files?

Yes you need to ftp it up, make a /video/ directory and store your videos in it. Then you can either link to them directly and have it open in the user's default video program, or embed it on the page.

If you link to it correctly the movie starts up an external movie player. If you embed the video, then the movie plays right on the page.

Webmonkey has a good tutorial for further reading
