Hello - I'm designing a website for the first time in quite a while & on a new computer. I've finished and want to test the site on different browsers/resolutions - but when I try to change the resolution for my computer I only have the option of 1024x768 (my usual) or 800x600? Why do I only have these options? My husband has checked my site on his laptop and told me that it doesn't display on his resolution (can't remember what it was but it's neither of the ones mentioned above) Is there anything I can do about this?

Sorry to ask such an akward question - but I'm stumped!

the resolution your pc can run at is depenedent on your graphics card.

for an easier way to check against different resolutions, do a search for a freeware app called 'sizer' - it lets you resize any window to a variety of resolutions with one click.

Mozilla FireFox [getfirefox.com] allows you to install the Web Developer extension, which has a built-in resize function.

Incidentally, if you can preview at 800x600 and 1024x768, your tests will cover something like 98% of Internet users . . .
