Ok, here it goes. I screwed something up on my wifes computer, loaded Microsoft updates. Anyways, she frequents a couple of message boards. When she goes in to a post reads it then hits the back button, it use to show that she had read the post, now it still shows as a new post instead of a post that has been read. I have removed all the updates that I had done as well as searched up and down to find other things to check. Yes I have changed the option to "Check for newer versions of stored pages every visit to the page" in the temp internet files settings. I have cleard out here temp internet files and cookies. I have loaded a newer version of Java because I noticed something happened to the old version the day I had done the updates. My biggest and most stupid issue was that I turned off "System Restore" when I was checking for a possible worm, would have been nice to click a button and say "Oh yes, I would love to go back to how things were on (enter date here). So, she is running Windows XP Home edition SP1, IE 6 with all updates except the last one. The type of board she is having this issue on runs "vBulliten version 2.3.2" That is all the information that I can think of at this point, if anyone has a clue or can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, and when you click refresh after going hitting the back button, all seems fine.....just don't want to have to click the refresh all the time. I know, it shouldn't be a big deal to hit the refresh button, bit it's just a lot nicer when it was working the other way.

Thanks again.

Yes I have changed the option to "Check for newer versions of stored pages every visit to the page"

Have you tried "automatically" instead? I remember running into this back in the day when I used IE a lot - there is something really unintuitive about how those choices actually work.

Yes, that is what was originally checked, not a difference. :(
