hi all,

i very much enjoyed the post explaining how to put multiple versions of IE on your windows box.
i was happily using this until i put SP2 on. as you may be able to guess it no longer works..

anyone know how to sort this one out?

Hey natty,

What has broken? I think that we need a few more details before we can hazard a guess at an answer...

SP2 screwed up my machine 3 times even on clean installs, now i've just given up. I use a MSI mega pc - do you think it could be a hardware confilct?

sorry, i will try to elaborate.

there was a post on the forum, cant remember if it was this one, or on one of the webmaster ones. it explained how to install multiple versions on internet explorer onto windows.
by downloading from a website, and extracting, fiddling etc...
post installing Service Pack 2 onto my XP Pro, these other versions of internet explorer do not work. when clicking on the shortcuts i made as before, nothing happens. well, i say that , it comes up in tassk manager, but not anywhere visible.

any way to get them working again?

Haven't tried it on SP2 (or even XP...), but because I was worried that IE6 patches might fubar the 5 and 5.5 versions, I put them on a CD. It seems to work, although it means you'd have to re-do the process... *shrug*

Okay. I too had this problem till as of like 10 minutes ago.
However what i did was delete my folders containing ie5 and ie5.01 and then downloaded the already modified folders from here
[skyzyx.com...]

this has seemed to do the trick.

hope this helps someone

I managed to get IE 5 and 5.5 running with those versions from skyzyx.com, but I can't seem to get cookies or sessions to work at all in winXP sp2. I tried to change the options, but it opens up the generic windows "internet options" for IE6.
