Today I was trying to edit my site by using the 'view source' option...but instead of showing the file's name...I saw the full path...so now i cant edit my html doc.
example:
If I open "c:\abc.html" and the view it's source I get a document which says in it's title:
"C___abc.html[1]"
instead of "abc.html"
can any one help?

If you want an easy way to do it, just open up notepad first, then edit a little, open up your browser with the page to view changes, edit some more in notepad, save, then refresh the browser.

If you view source, it's just the "temp file" of the source, not the actual thing, but it you open the actual C:\abc.html using notepad, then it will be the real deal.

Make sure to make backups.

Hmm... I'll be big enough to take back my last post, I just tried to open the source of a file on my drive and it did work, opening up the original source file. Sorry to post without testing. The only thing I can think about now is maybe if the page has any media on it, i.e. flash or a movie, or if you are using server-side scripting like asp or php, that it would have to open up a temp file instead of the original. Other than that, I'm stumped.

Just a guess here, but the View Source function IE is known to sop working when the cache (Internet History) is nearly full. Usually it just stops working altogether, but it can't hurt to try deleting your cache - Temporary Internet Files, History, etc.

It absolutely stops working when the cache is full, you can't even view the source. And thanks for that tip about a month or two ago, tedster. It never happened with Win98 or Win95 but it does with XP and IE6.

Plus, you can't just "save" you have to "save as" and navigate to the folder it's supposed to go into.
