Can it be done or is it me.

Does anyone with WS_FT Pro 8.02 know if it is able to download directly to a disk in CD drive. I can't make it see the drive in its explorer tree. I have a site to backup and would like to handle it only once.

Far as I can tell, if it's not a hdd or a logical drive on a partitioned hdd WS FTP won't "see" it.

Used to be some ways to "cloak" drives as other drive designators (in other words, my drive "F:\" which is my dvd would have been "seen" as "D:\", a "logical" drive resident on my physical drive "C:\"). Don't know if that's still possible, or if it would ever have worked for this sort of thing.

My guess would be that it's simply not a functionality of the current version.

Can your burning software access your webspace-resident files?

I have 7.6 Pro and it sees the CD drive (G: on my sytem) with no problem. However, this was a native drive from the factory. Maybe that makes a difference?

Mine are native from factory.... and my WS FTP version is 8.03 - so must have gone missing in between there.

I know that this probably won't help out exactly here but I 've just tested and cute ftp pro can see and load to whatever your diskdrive is called...

Strange happenings. WS_FTPro sees my E: drive fine now, but I can't download to the disk in it. Something is different on my PC. It used to be I could cut and paste into a CD-RW disk on this drive, but now it goes through a wizard like its burning a mp3 to a CD-R disk. Well its looking like a PC problem and not an ftp problem. Thanks to all for helping.

bumpaw: sounds like either a "restore to previous known good" date, or a reinstall of OS....

vkarl: Fortunately it was the CD-RW media. It wasn't set up properly. I got a fresh one and formated it the right way then it worked like a charm. I had never paid enough attention to the differences in Roxio Direct CD and their Easy CD Creator.:)

Ah. I'm really glad for you!

But I never did have any use for Roxio....
