Clear form instead of 'reset'

We've noticed that the 'reset' buttons on forms don't actually clear the fields, but resets the fields to their initial values.

This is a problem if the form pre-fills in some values in the fields. Clicking reset doesn't clear the fields, it just reloads the original entries.

Does anyone know any easy way of clearing the form properly? I'd prefer not to use Javascript, but I suppose the only other alternative is to place the button in another form on the same page and post to that page with no data fields.

I hope I make sense!

well I can't think of other way than javascript. The idea with the button is not recommended.
