Any vulnerability risk using browsers running ads?

Just wondering if there are any files installed with a browser version running ads that'll open up to risk or make it harder to get rid of forced adware downloads.

Previously, when I had an FTP program capable of running ads (which had stopped) it was de-activated when running Adaware and had to be reinstalled. Apparently some files with that were common to intrusive software.
