The first time I saw this feature in Opera Browser I thought, I got a gesture for you right here. It seemed like the dumbest thing ever put in to a browser.
So then it really annoys me, that I can't stop using them.

They are handy after you get used to using them. Back - just right click, and drag a little bit to the left. Close window - down right. Minimize - down left. Reload - up then down.

Highly addictive. I find myself trying to use them in other browsers. Anyone else hooked?

Absolutely hooked, 100%. IE seems so difficult to use after gestures.

Gestures are the best thing Opera put into their browser to make it "sticky", imho. Even though I run into the occasional incompatibility issue, the included gestures take browsers to the next level and make it worth using.

>What is a gesture?

a browser action triggered by mouse events only.

But it only applies to Opera.

Example to do a browser 'back' you press the right mouse button then move a little to the left (as the man said earlier)

Click right button, hold and drag:

move left = back
move right = go forward
up then down = reload
down then up = clone window
down then right (L) = close window
down then left (J) = minimize window
over link: down and release = open in new window

Works with Opera and a Mozilla addon in development.

Yes I'm hooked.

As a general principle for any software, I believe that to succeed it must have a truly fantastic unique feature.

Opera gestures are just that.

Opera help file:
Accessibility preferences
Mouse gestures allow you to perform frequently used browse actions through simple mouse movements. If you don't use mouse gestures, and don't want to unintentionally perform mouse gestures, you can disable them.

Mouse gestures
Opera's amazing mouse gestures lets you do frequently performed browse operations with small, quick mouse movements. For example, pressing and holding Ctrl on your keyboard and rolling the wheel on your mouse will zoom the page. Try it now! [...]

btw, I don't use them. I disabled mouse gestures since I use keyboard shortcuts instead.

But it only applies to Opera.

Actually, they're also available for Mozilla: [optimoz.mozdev.org...]

Eventually, everything will be available for Mozilla. Those Open Source guys are scary like that.
