Hi,
My name is Teresa Reed
I use netscape for my homepage.
I always was able to type in the little search box
on netscape and search for whatever, Up until a couple of weeks ago. Now everytime I type something in my netscape search box I get this message (HTTP 404
file not found) I can go to yahoo or any other site and type in something to search for and they all seem to be working. But netscape is is the one I would like to be able to use. could someone please help me
with this HTTP 404 problem, PLEASE

Hello Teresa, and welcome to the forums at WebmasterWorld.

This is a bit confusing. A 404 error is not something that a search box normally returns - so it sounds more like you may be typing a search term into a browser's location bar (also called the address bar.)

Also, I just tried the Netscape home page at www.netscape.com and their search box is working fine from here.

What browser are you using?

My browser is Internet Explorer.
I do not type my search in the address bar.
At the top of my netscape page there is a search box
that says enhanced by Google. This is a sample of what
I have tried to type in the search box (cars, toys, and
just single words and it always says HTTP 5404 file not found.

Teresa, welcome! The search box on www.netscape.com seems to be working fine, and the URL I see on the search results page is search.netscape.com/ns/search? (followed by a query string). Are you seeing the same thing in the address bar returning the 404?

Maybe you should navigate to Netscape manually and try resetting your home page (in case they have changed some URL)?
