I have recently provided a client with some Outlook Stationery I created using an animated gif of his logo (I know, I know; email + html + animated gif = BAD, but hey we all gotta make a living...)

Anyway, people receiving this html email are having it blocked by their virus blocking software as the email apparently uses ActiveX (which is disabled on their systems for security reasons). Fair enough, i guess, however this client has an example of another html email using an animated gif which doesn't have this problem.

Any ideas as to how this other email bypasses this whole ActiveX thing?

If anyone can help me out here, you'd make my day.

Maybe the "other" animated email is IncrediMail? Though that begs the question really, since even if it IS, there still must be something IN the IMails that dodges the virus situation....

There's your clue then -- pull that example apart.

I did some research on this issue, and I couldn't find anything that would bypass the security setting except to change it. It seems ActiveX gets used for every kind of animation I could think of.

Thanks for your help, but the problem seemes to be resolved now.
Basically, the client had edited the stationery file I had given him, and had done so using Microsoft word. Word must have added something fishy, because when I got the client to test out the original file I sent him, he didn't have any troubles.

Well, you CAN edit those stationery files, but NOT in Word, WordPerfect, or anything which writes trash code....

yeah, my client is trying out other programs he has (that don't add trash code!).
