Has anyone else noticed IE making colours like #eeeeee very slightly pink and/or slightly green (and this changes when you scroll them off screen and back on) in 16-bit?

The only fix I've found so far for this is to use something like #eeefee which renders as #eee in 16-bit (or #eeeeee if you're not a css person).

It's fairly noticeable here on WebmasterWorld with my crap old pc.

Since M$ hasn't documented it, does anyone know of a list of "safe" (properly rendering) colours for IE? This doesn't seem to be an issue for any other browser (Opera/Mozilla/etc.)

"safe" (properly rendering) colours

The Web safe palette should work ;)

Yeah, I try to stick to web safe cols, but I can't think that there are many people still using 8 bit colour - those that are are also probably using ns4 or similar and are going to be used to having problems with most web sites ;)

But is there a fuller pallette than the 216 fairly bright and grotesque colours that we were once limited to?

Here's a recent thread in our Graphics Forum about the 16-bit color palette that might help out:
