are rating and robot important

Is there any benefit in having the meta tags "rating" and "robots" in my html? I was going to delete them so that it would marginally reduce the amount of html on my pages?

The only function of the robots tag is to keep robots out, so if you want a page to be indexed and followed there is no need for that tag.

The rating tag is less clear. There has been at least one post here where a webmaster was told by potential visitors that they could only access (from work) sites with a certain rating (details fuzzy in my mind).

I have not found any other posts which make that point, am curious as to concensus on the issue.
