I don't pay much attention to meta tags anymore. I have the impression that they are almost obsolete as far as having the search engines look at them and decide how to rank your site. Is there any good reason to think about meta tags much?

A good title and description are still important, keywords are not taken into consideration by google but it's better to have them on your page for other search engines which do take keywords into consideration.
All the other meta tags are obsolete

Use them but don't think about them much.

The meta description is still important as is the <title> tag.
