I used to know where to make the settings to open Excel,Word, etc directly in IE but my memory is slipping fast.

Where do I do this?

I have one routine that creates an Excel file and redirects the user to the file. On one of my machines it causes an error, then has to open up the actual Excel program. On other computers it just opens up in the browser.

Thanks.

Since IE is configured by default to open MS Office programs within the browser, it sounds like you must have changed it in the past. I found this article at Microsoft [support.microsoft.com] which should shed some light.

Sounds like you may be playing with the registry.

Thanks Ted, I don't remember messing with those registry settings, but "who knows" right?

I think I'll just runa Windows update on the browser to see if that takes care of it.

The article shows how NOT to have IE open the office docs. But I do want my browser to open it. Right now I'm getting nasty errors which look bad on demos...

Thanks for your help
