For some reason I cannot open pop up links. When I click them nothing happens. At the bottom of the page all I see is javascript:;. I have windows XP and I use comcast/ internet explorer. Does any one know any ways i can fix this problem? It's keeping me from doing many things. Thanxs for your help in advanced.

Does other Javascript work?

Try other browsers (Opera, Netscape) and see if they show the same behaviour.

If you use the Google Toolbar, have you got the pop-up killer turned on?

Make sure your XP has all the necessary patchs installed.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Babygurl!

most likely cause is either you have Javascript disabled or you have some sort of pop-up blocker with Norton Internet Security or something similar.

If the problem is Javascript disabled, then enable it by reversing the changes made to disable it (the default configuration is to have Javascript enabled, so if it is now disabled, you or someone using the PC would have had to explicitly change it). further hints at pages such as:

[lib.drake.edu...]

If you suspect the problem is a pop-up blocker, temporarily disable your firewall software and then confirm the problem is fixed. If this confirms that the problem is the firewall software, then play with the config settings of your firewall sotware.

You can check to see if a pop-up blocker is affecting you by clicking on a link while holding down either the shift or CRTL key. Most pop-up blockers will allow a window to open with a modifier key activated.
