Domain Pointing vs. purchasing a new hosting account

The hosting company that I subscribe to will allow more than one domain name on an account for a $10 charge a month. I can purchase another hosting account for just $12 a month. The money is not the issue. I fear that if I have only one web hosting account and have the hosting company set up the 2nd domain (which they call Domain Pointing, not to be confused with domain redirecting or domain parking) that the search engines will penalize or not even index or put as much value on the 2nd domain since it will be in a sub-directory.

Can anyone help me out with any pointers on this. Money is not the issue, I just don't want to waste my time setting up something that is not going to work properly.

Thank you,

Patrick

The search engine will not know it is in a sub-directory it looks just the same ot it as any virtual host.

$10/month seems really high. I know of one ISP that charges $2.50/month but most that I know of either include a particular number of domain pointers in their mid-high level packages or charge a one time setup fee ($15-$25).
