Netscape Mail

Account insists ..

I need direction in resolving a problem for an account. He insists on using his netscape email for personal stuff.

I get a 404 error with this URI h**p://ncmail.netscape.com/_cqr/vllogin.adp
when attempting to open a Netscape mail session, using IE6.01. When using Netscape 7.1 I get “No Data Found”.

I have reinstalled 7.1 , installed 4.7 with no luck. I deleated the imap folder and that didn't help.

Anyone ever see this problem?

Thanks for the links... Not a lot of good thgings being said about netscape mail.
I believe I narrowed it down to two things.

Netscape FAQ suggests I upgrade the linksys router firmware :(

and Norton AV was last upgraded on the machines involved.

FYI for any interested. I did a firmware upgrade of the linksys router. Real smooth. They really did a nice job with them. That cleared up the DNS error.

But

We then got an error that referenced 110. I said I know what port 110 is. I have a conflict with Norton AV and Netscape.

Not

A phone call to Netscape tech support, for any intertested is $39.95, cleared it up .. sort of.
Before you can give them a credit card number, I am told they have a message that says.... If you are getting an error 110, we are aware of this problem, and are working to fix it. We currently do not know what the problem and cannot estimate a date when a fix is available.....
