[dcml.org...]

An interesting new initiative to develop an open source language (based on XML) that allows communication between data centre environments.

The long-range goal of DCML is to introduce a simpler way to achieve interoperability among widely disparate IT systems, thereby encouraging the use of utility computing among larger datacenters.

It is to data centres what HTML is to IP networking.

Some very interesting information, and the full specification at the website [dcml.org].

Neat. Sort of reminds me of ISO 9000 - huge implementation issues but once it's done it should impact the bottom line in a very positive way - providing the decision makers support it and see the process through.
