Disable "Remember My Password"

How do you enable and disable the "Remember My Password" check box during HTTP authentication?

I am using Windows XP Professional.

Internet Options > Content > Auto Complete > Clear Passwords (I think)

That clears the passwords that have been previously saved, but I need to know how to make the actual "remember my password" checkbox disappear when I need to.

You want it to disappear only sometimes?
Or all the time?

IE is not nice enough to let you choose whether to be promoted to save the password for selected sites. Either the feature is turned off, or it's on. There's nothing you can do to make it not prompt you for certain sites.

Consider using Opera [opera.com] instead...

I need it to be turned off for certain laptops and on for others. I just need to know where that feature can be turned on or off.

Check/uncheck "Prompt me to save passwords"

I have the same requirement as frc7777. I have remote users that connect to our Exchange server using HTTPS. The authentication pop up still has remember my password check box displayed after I cleared all items under content and use Autocomplete for. The browser is IE 6.0 running on top of WINXP-Pro,Win2k is also used. Any feedback in resolving this is appreciated.

Thanks for the input, by implementing the DisablePasswordCaching registry value "the remember my password" or "save my password" does not show up when authenticating via HTTP(S). This fix works great for PC's under my control and unfornately PC's that are not the user's will just have to follow protocol and not check the save option. My use for this was for OWA for Exch@2k, I found a product called sessionguard from messageware. This address's the OWA security concerns with the Browser caching of password's via session cookies and can time out open sessions as well. Using the two together will address most OWA security issue's. (www.messageware.com)
