Damn!
I just tested a site I'm working on, by upping it to some Virgin freespace. For some reason the images in my page did not show? the swf stuff did and a single image in my bottom (of 4) frame did? The site works fine offline and I have never had any probs with there servers. What's going on? Should I get the images to preload?
Thanks for any help
Smokey

Have you tried from a different machine? If that doesn't work, try without the flash to see if that's the problem.

Yeah, tried it from a couple of other machines but no joy. I have tables with a mixture of graphics and swf buttons, but why would the flash stuff be the cause? I can't really remove the swf elements without resizing the whole thing. Does anyone know the most likely cause for this non showing/loading of graphics, cos it's doing my head in.
Thanks, Smokey

I don't know enough about swf files, but I would pull elements until I found the problem. Since it works locally, the problem is most likley server side. Do you have any other flash sites working there and just this one doesn't?

Hi, I have another site (for my son) on Virgin freespace and it has some flash and a elaborate dhtml menu bar (with graphics as buttons). I must admit there aren't many graphics and flash working on the same pages, but the site works perfectly? This is the first time I've used photoshop and imageready to make a site (slicing and tables etc) and I have modified my original plan along the way so I do not have anything to cross reference this site with. Does anyone know of another company that offers "pay as you go" dial up with some free web space thrown in, so I can try another server?
Thanks for the help, Smokey

Hi smokeyb check all the common sense things until you are blue in the face .. its usually something very obvious .. local links to places on your hd, images not loaded or links point to the wrong dir .. etc etc ....

I just think its usually something silly...

Test on one page only .. get that right the rest will follow.. check link codes by viewing code on the uplaoded page via your browser .. where does it ask for the images for and where are they .. can you load them using just the image string in the browser ..

Just a quick brainsrtorm hope something helps you out.

Also do you have any link checkers ... my wysiwyg html writer will check links as will my ftp client .. when they both give pages a clean bill of health they usually work first time.

Phew! got it working ok now. I'm not sure what was truly going on but when Imageready exports the slices, it puts them in a folder within a folder. I moved all the images to the root folder and updated the links and, hey presto? Next time I'll start it from a site I create and be careful where I put things.
Thanks for all the help
