Open Cube vs. DW Drop Down Menu

compatibility issues?

Hi. I am a longtime user of Open Cube's Quick Menu Pro.

I have a new client that will be managing their site in-house using DW templates. The site will need a drop down menu.

I am thinking that it may be easier for the client if the site was built using the DWMX drop down menu feature. However, I don't know about cross-browser compatibility with the DW drop down menu.

Open Cube's Quick Menu Pro claims to be 100% compatible with: IE 4,5,6 (All platforms) NS 4,5/6,7 (all), Opera 5,6,7 (all), Mozilla 0.6 & up (all), Konqueror 2.2 & up, Espial Escape 4.x & up, Ice Browser 5.x & up, Safari 1.0 (Mac). Does anyone know how DW's drop down menu stands up to this compatibility list?

Thanks in advance-
Pam

Truthfully, I didn't know DW came with a drop-down feature of it's own - and I've had the MX version since April 02. Do they have the studio and mean to do the drop-downs from Fireworks and import the javascript and html that way? Or are they using an extension of some sort and show/hide layers behaviors? The latter is the route I'm currently using.

what April last year. mmm!

Their are drop down menu's in DW, cross browser compatibility is a massive issue, and i have to say that i don't believe open cube's code can account for a cross browser compatibility like that, when using drop down menu's - i have to assume its javascript based!

Are we talking about a jump menu with a select box or layered menu navigation?

I am referring to a DHTML menu. DW calls it a "pop up" menu and you can create one through the DW behaviors panel.

Real drop downs straight from DW, caine? I can't find that anywhere - sure would have saved some time in my navigation menu. Hints, please?

Look in the "Behaviors" panel. You will see something that says "Show Pop Up Menu".

I've never used it personally. It does look easier to edit than the Open Cube menu. That is the reason that I am considering it for this project (since the client will be maintain the site).

Well, don't I feel stupid. Seems to work almost like the FW version - but not a lot of options if you are using images instead of text to create the menu. Still, a decent workaround.
