Software for Measuring Download Times?

Measuring Document Text and Images with CSS.

I have been using HomeSite for many years, and have found the 'document weight' function handy for determining the total document text and images sizes that result in a rough estimate of download times at various connection speeds.

Unfortunately, moving to CSS, most of the css-called image dependencies are not included in the results.

I'm using HomeSite 4.5.2. Is anyone familiar with HomeSite 5, or are their other means of checking direct html and css to give a total weight for each page being checked?

Thanks

I asked the same question a couple of month back and was directed to this page h**p://www.xat.com/wo/index.html.

Downloaded the trial version and I must say that it's great. I'm thinking of purshasing the soft.

hope this helps and that the url is not too much against TOS (I swear I have nothing to do with them ;))

Homesite 5 also skips css and js files when it calculates page weight. I haven't found that to be too much of a problem, but I also wish MacroMedia would address it.

Of course, it could get crazy for them to account for all the possibilities when javascript conditionals enter into the picture.

Thanks Leo for the tip... I downloaded it, and thought it was exactly what I was looking for, but I keep getting "waiting for accesses..." message several minutes later - even when doing a local directory.

- I'll keep playing with it.

And Thanks Ted on the HS-5 info. I was curious whether they took this into account or not. (Have been meaning to update anyway, but haven't had the time - since they screw up my saved top button configuratio every time I upgrade...)
