The best answer I've found is to validate your code, developing first in a standards compliant browser like Mozilla. Then check your template page in a few other browsers - and especially on a Macintosh, if you can.
The Safari browser [apple.com] is gaining ground very rapidly among the Mac users I know, and for good reasons. Compared to the other browsers that are developed first for PC and then sort of crammed into the Mac, this is a just for-and-by Apple development, and the browser is really a sweetheart.
However, I have been seeing the occasional oddity in CSS/JS support. Since we have Macs on hand, I find it valuable to check, just in case something vital has gone wonky.
