Im accustomed to using FTP on a PC, but just recently I purchased a powerbook and dont know how to make changes to pages and upload. Using WS_FTP, I dragged notepad over to an Explorer page and hit view source. I would save, refresh the page and the changes would produce. Im not able to do this on my Mac. No notepad or word pad, and when I tried to use test edit, it wouldnt carry over to explorer easily or make changes after saving. Am i an idiot? Please help, my job is on the line...THANKS J

Hi chicoco25,

Welcome to the board. I post this in a hurry, since it seems serious.

Did you try a hard refresh (f5)? Else, diddle with Exploder preferences so it does not cache documents.

I think chicoco25 was talking about a Mac. His Explorer comments were merely an example.

(Sorry - I don't have a Mac, so I can't help either.)

I remember the f5 trick did good with IE on a Mac well back into the 20th century. I guess chicoco25 needs more time to get familiar with various programs on his Mac.

Any text editor will let you work on the code and save it. My favorite is BBedit.
Any ftp client for Mac will let you do ftp transfers. My favorite is Fetch.

Thanks for replying everyone. Had a little trouble getting back. OK, well I downloaded Fetch and Transmit. I like transmit (more like WS FTP, which Im familiar with), but Im still having trouble (pre)viewing my work before uploading. On my PC Im accoustomed to simply dragging notepad to an open Explorer window to preview and viewing the source to edit, but on my new mac, Im having trouble with that simple process. Is there another process Im unaware of? Please help...thanks alot

You can drag the html file onto the explorer *icon* to view it, but explorer has no editor.

It sounds like bbedit would be an excellent tool for what you are doing, it also has built in ftp.
