I have NN7 and Windows Media player 9 installed. When I open a page and then move to a second page, if the second page has an audio file embedded either as embed or object the browser immediately sends me to the previous page.

I have reinstalled wmp9 and it is still causing the same problem.

Any one have any ideas?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Matthewrev.

Windows Media Player uses ActiveX controls that are native to Explorer. Here's a reference that discusses the need for a java applet to support WMP in Netscape [msdn.microsoft.com].

If that's not the issue, let us know and we'll take a harder look.

No, that's not really the issue. I am not trying to control wmp9 from the web page. I just mentioned wmp9 because that is the player my netscape uses as default plug in for any media file. So I thought there might be a conflict in some way. The problem is simply that any page that has an embedded sound file in it will not hold. Netscape simply immediately sends me back to the previous page. using the forward button takes me back to the second page but then I am immediately returned to the previous page. It makes browsing the web difficult because I can not view any page with a sound file in it when I use netscape. I will try a different plugin and see if that changes things.
