Title says it all - I'm looking for a tool that will compact an .html file, whilst retaining its correctness. I.e removal of unnecessary attributes, whitespace, optional quotation in attributes etc. Any ideas?

Sorry if this is a faq.

Doctor HTML [www2.imagiware.com] has a "squish HTML" feature that seems to work pretty well.

Just run an analysis of the page to be squished and then you can select "squish HTML" from the nav bar at the top or bottom of the page.

In HTML 4.01 it is recommended to quote all attrubtes.

In XHTML it then becomes a requirement.

Advanced HTML Optimizer [pcbit.com] has a shareware version you can try & see if it does what you need.
