I'm looking for a way to determine if a client has the Windows Media Player version 9 installed. All the code I have found relates to version 6.4 and/or version 7. I have been unable to find the name of the version 9 control. If anyone has code that accomplishes this, or knows the name of the control, I would appreciate your help.

Thanks.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, cabbagekey

Here's a link for the VBscript that detects the presence and version of WMP [webocaster.com].

I don't know VBscript, so I can't vouch for the code. But I have seen this reference refered to and vouched for elsewhere.

Thanks for the response, Tedster. I actually found that same code, and it works great in IE, but not in Netscape. I need a way to detect the WMP version across both IE and Netscape.

Did you catch this one? It was just revised in Feb 2003 and goes into some detail about the issues between Netscape and WMP. Lots of reference links.
