downloading a word document

Your help would be much appreciated here.

I'm trying to link to a word document so that people can download it from my site.
CAn this be done? and does anyone have the code for it?
I was trying to use the following but it does'nt seem to work :<a href="ftp://cinergiconsultant.com/documents/customerquickstart.doc">DownLoad</a>
