I'm having problems with my isp lately. seems they are forcing me through a proxy which is sharing an ip adress with others and it now prevents me from downloading from rapidshare etc (its detecting my ip as already downloading) even google cache is sometimes detecting me as a spam bot because of ip.

I have noticed i have a really slow connectioin when this proxy is making me share an ip adress but skype works ok.

is this because skype is not going through the proxy and being choked? and if so is there some way i can hide the user agent of my browser or change something to not be forced through proxy like skype is not?

can i somehow fool the proxy by changing the user agent in some way? any other ideas? thanks

Some browsers allow you to change the user agent. If you can't do it directly in FF then Im sure there's a plugin.

Your IP address must be unique for a period of time - otherwise the internet wouldn't work at all - perhaps it's recycled too quickly?!

I doubt that you can bypass your a forced proxy by setting a special useragent. if all traffic to port 80, which is the default port for http, is routed through that proxy, you cannot change that. talk to your provider, tell them that you get alot of errors lately and ask them to fix it.
