Sorry for very basic question.
The meta name lines below comes as default when creating a new website. Is this something that is good to keep or is it more a "adverticement" for the program that you are using. Is it used by any crawl tool or does it server any other purpouse?

See code below:

<head>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 4.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.asp">

</head>

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, morten44.

Yeah, you can certainly dump the last two, but you may consider keeping the first around ... perhaps with a different charset though:

The META element [w3.org]
