I'm not by far firefox biggest fan, but my stats show on all my websites that they've really gained ground over IE this month.

I wouldn’t be surprised if firefox becomes the majority before the year is out.

I'm not sure they will get that far for quite a time to come (if at all).

It is possible we will see an increase to around 30-35% by the end of the year but too many people are too lazy to change browser (or know how to) so I doubt many of those will make the switch.

Standards compliant browsers have been gaining ground over the legacy IE out there for a long time already. One can only hope the released IE8 will be even more standards compliant than anything we've seen so far and that it will get accepted and upgraded to fast by those still using IE6 and IE7.

I think for webmasters the key message is simple: not everybody uses IE, so get up and test your site in something else.

Too many people use their computer's with whatever pre-installed crap they have, and since it is unlikely Microsoft will include firefox as an option out-of-box for windows, or that linux OS will gain significant market share, IE will continue to dominate as crappy as it is.

Yes IE will always be dominant as it comes with every PC.

But I too am noticing nearly as many check my website with Firefox than IE that is amazing. 37% Firefox, 54% IE 6 and 6 combined.

But I hear with Windows 7 Microsoft will make it an option for people to delete IE.

I think they should be made to make it so that their installation and Windows 7 does not even mention a browser.

Then people should use a browser installation wizard which lets them choose one.

I think the EU is going to make it tougher for Mircosoft.
