More and more webmasters have a special mobile/print design. But what are the needs: font-sizes, resolutions for television.
I see that my old parents in the future will use the TV remote control to see movie's, nieuws, family pictures and more.. So i want to make my website ready for the TV! And for this i use the tld .TV , no video channel, just a website channel for TV.
Im thinking about this for days. But i got no TV, so i cannot test. Maybe some people has knowledge about this?
See W3C: w3.org : media-types [w3.org]
7.3 Recognized media typesA CSS media type names a set of CSS properties. A user agent that claims to support a media type by name must implement all of the properties that apply to that media type.
The names chosen for CSS media types reflect target devices for which the relevant properties make sense. In the following list of CSS media types, the parenthetical descriptions are not normative. They only give a sense of what device the media type is meant to refer to.

Moreover a FullHD screen is by far not low resolution: it's 1920px by 1080px, a higher resolution than many computer monitors.
What I do think as a way towards the future are CSS media queries (something for the future (CSS3), but already being implemented in many browsers today:

Aside of that, go with the flow, accept default fonts from the browser as "right" and measure things off of that size. After all the browser knows what screen it is using and the intended way of using (user sitting a foot or a few yards away from the screen?)
The .tv ccTLD ... I'm no fan of ccTLDs trying to be gTLDs. Let's hope the people of Tuvalu never regret this (ab)use. Tuvalu really is a small country, by any standard, but that's no excuse.
I'm thinking to introduce a HD-version of my website. Special made for 1920*1080 screens.
Just because zooming functions are not the right answer. I want to make my website optimized for a remote-control. The best mobile browser i've seen was on a N95. It auto select hyperlinks if you move up or down.. I hope the television marked will do something like that.
My guess is that still the most of all internet people don't write on the internet. They want information, entertainment and video. So what is more easy then sitting on your relax-chair, having a beer, a remote control and for HD optimized webpages?
In my country i see that the video marked is changing real fast. They made special 'webpages' for their video content. And i think we webmasters are forgetting a big market. The mobile use of my webpage is intresting and it generates money for me already. Mobile people (on phones) are more relaxed, and take time to view read your webpage. Because they are bored, waiting for the bus or train etc.. etc..
I'm getting bored of internet too, now i wanna sit on my relax-chair with a remote control, controlling or surfing the web. Maybe this vision is the first step to a keyboard less world ;)
