In checking out a site's source I found that the meta content tag contains a huge string of letters, ie. - meta content="ZvcwZigXZzXTXcKtCXzHcOxJoBFqCZTi60"

Does anyone know what this is for?

thank you!

Could be a way to identify ownership of a particular domain. It would be one way a third party would do it, anyway.

thank you and hello!

could you explain further, I don't understand what you mean by identifying ownership of a domain and the third party idea...
once you own a domain, isn't it yours?

Some web directories require you to authenticate your ownership of a domain before they except you.

They may generate a unique key such as the one in your post that they would then ask you to put in your code, when they crawl your page they can see the unique code, thus verifying you own the domain.
