Permanent redirects on Geocities

I just recently registered my domain name and engaged the service of another host. I'm currently using Geocities, but hope to discontinue this service within a reasonable time frame.

I've read as much as I could about 301 redirects, but have yet to find a way to get this to function. Unfortunately Geocities will not accept files with the .htaccess extension.

I have tried several ways to automatically redirect the entire site to the new host, but have yet to solve this problem.

In the meantime I have only the index page pointing to the new URL.
I will truelly be greatfull for any help, and hope I wont forget what I will learn here from all of you.

You may have to resort to a meta refresh tag
